Login Portal Configuration

The Login Portal Configuration is the main page of the Portal Configuration.

Portal Language

The Portal is currently available in French and English and detects which langage to present to the user automatically based on his device preferences. Their is no specific setting to configure for this behavior.

Portal Options

This tab allows to configure how users will be able to login and the experience.

All fields have an info icon that you can use to get more details about each fields.

Marketing Card

  • Check the Display the Subscribe Button option to offer a nice and easy way to subscribe to your newsletter directly on the Login Page.
  • Fill the Welcome Redirect URL with your website URL to bring users to your website after they successfully login to the system. You can use any URL you want.

Connection Methods

  • The Email/Phone and Password is the default login method and should almost always be checked. Except if you want to allow only specific users to use your network in which case you will probably want to use the Network password as described below.
  • The Biometric setting is a new modern and secure authentication method that allows to login with biometric sensors like TouchID or FaceID on Apple devices)
  • The Social Networks option is really common and allows to login with different social networks such as Facebook, Microsoft, Apple… Please note that the availability of options might be different on each device and wether or not they are connecting inside the Captive Network Assistant Popup.
  • The Anonymous Connection as it’s name imply doesn’t require further user information. Enable this option only if you don’t need to collect/use data for marketing purpose.

UX Settings

  • The Login Visual Wait Time is a timer that allows to make sure that the user see a visual before being able to click on the Continue button to request internet access. We recommend to keep this value low (max 5secs) to avoid user frustration.
  • The Bypass Android Login option will display a first step only for some Android users to do the authentication in the Browser instead of the Captive Network Assistant Popup. This option unfortunately displays a message that can scare a few users, but increases the performance of the redirect URL, and allows your website to have more trafic while enabling cookies for your website.
  • The Seamless Login is a powerful feature that we recommend to enable to improve user experience. Only at the first connection, users will need to login with a social network, or with an account (users can also create an account on the fly). The following connections, the users won’t need to enter information again because the system will recognizes them.

Security

  • Use the Protect Access with a Password to restrict the network to only users who will know the password. Please note that this setting is not a WPA2 key, it will be prompted in the Login Page. Note: if you want users to only require the password to access the network without using another account, only keep Anonymous Connection as the authentication method.

Auto Login

  • Enabling the Auto login means users won’t have to login inside the captive network. This setting must be used carefully as users won’t have to read and accept your terms and conditions of use. A captive portal will still need to open so this is not a valid option for cameras and other standalone equipment.
